R&B singer, producer, author and philanthropist now solo artist, Larry Dodson Sr. was born on January 22 of 1951 and graduated from Carver High School in Memphis, TN. Dodson is married to Marie Dodson and they have 2 kids, Precious and Larry jr. For 47 years, Dodson has been a trend setter as the lead singer of The Bar-Kays, who have sold millions of records all over the world. He released his first book entitled, "And the Band Plays On: The Life Story of Larry Dodson" in September of 2017. Larry is also the owner of a full service entertainment booking agency called LaMarie's Entertainment Complex, which he currently runs with his family.
Dodson is the co-founder of the JEA/Right Now Records record label and The Bar-Kays Foundation, along with The Bar-Kays founding member James Alexander. Dodson is also an advocate for the Down Syndrome Association of the Mid-South.
As of 2019, Larry will be branding a new beverage called Guidance Whiskey and sharing in it's profits as well. He has spent over a year in retirement from the stage, but now, as a solo artist, he's back!
